Building a 2.2L engine

I decided I wanted a little more punch than a standard 2.0L engine.  I found that many of the e30 M3's are being converted from 2.3L to 2.4L by changing the crankshaft from 84mm stroke to 87mm stroke.  I purchased a used 84mm stroke crankshaft and pulley for $100.

I faced a tough decision with the pistons.  I could either go with a 92mm piston, which would require a custom head gasket, or 91mm which would fit in a tii cutting ring head gasket.  I decided to sacrifice .1L and go with the 91mm piston for ease of assembly and parts.

When decided which cam to do, I first purchased a regrind cam.  I wasn't impressed on the actual size of the cam lobe.  I decided to return it, but made the following chart for reference.  I ended up going with the Schrick cam.
